What were you grateful for this week? Very grateful for a safe arrival to Italy and we were able to get our bags safely and I am grateful for my host family. What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? Most difficult part of this week I would say is the culture shock and jet lag. I couldn’t fall asleep until 4 in the morning. Also not being able to understand anyone. Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. My “wow” moment would be connecting with my host family right away. It wasn’t hard for me to get a long with the little baby. We’ve had a lot of fun already. We were at dinner and I got up to go to the bathroom and she started crying as I walked away. It made me feel so good and that I am going to love it here. Tell us about your week! These last couple days have been such a blur. I can’t believe I am in Italy already! Seems like a dream. On Friday, I traveled with my friend K2 for more than 24 hours. We were so tired of being in airports and on planes! Everything went pretty smoothly, other than getting to the wrong airline in LA and having a man tell us we needed to go to the international gate which was on the other side of the airport. so we had all our bags and ran to make it through customs with enough time before our flight to Germany left. But we finally made it and got to Rome! Then I had to say goodbye to K2 as she took a train to her city and I went to get on another plane to reach my city in southern Italy! It was weird being alone after traveling all day together. I got off the plane in Bari and there was my host mom with a cute sign waiting for me! I felt bad because it was so late and she drove so far to come pick me up. We had an hour drive from the airport back to Martina Franca. We finally made it home and Antonella, my host mom showed me my room and let me get ready for bed. She told me I could sleep in, and I definitely did! Traveling is an adventure for sure! The first 2 days here in Martina Franca have been amazing. My host family is so kind and B is the sweetest little girl in the world. I already love them so much! I can’t wait to see what else Italy has in store!
