What were you grateful for this week?Other Rome Abroad travelers!
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?Adjusting to a new culture, language and transportation system!
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. I brought the kids a puzzle (among other gifts) of the United States. The whole family loved it and was able to learn more about the states as they plan a trip later this summer to the US!
Tell us about your week! This was my first week and the first two days were brutal! I felt so overwhelmed and anxious and like I had maybe made a mistake in coming! But this weekend two other travelers from Rome Abroad came to Rome and we were all able to explore and experience the city together! It was so fun to meet and become friends with them.
I was also so happy to be paired with such a kind family who is warm and has tried their best to make me feel welcome and apart of their family! I learned that I can do hard things and that all I really need in any situation are good people, good food, and technology to help me get around 😉
While the girls were in town we went to visit the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Square where we were able to see the Pope, the Spanish Steps, the Bridge of Angels and Trevi Fountain! All while seeing many beautiful buildings, alleyways and people! And most importantly, many gelato and pizza stops!
This is an experience of a life time and a beautiful challenge. It pushes me just far enough out of my comfort zone to be uncomfortable while providing the opportunity to love others, experience a different culture and explore this beautiful country!
