What were you grateful for this week?
My mom, with it being Mother’s Day this week. I was really grateful for my momma. Her support while me being here means everything. What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?Probably dealing with the creepy men, getting stared at like a piece of meat gets really old really fast. Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.I think hanging out with my host family’s niece was my wow moment, getting to know her, watching movies with her while the adults hung out. I think it made her feel more welcome!Tell us about your week! So Saturday J, K, and I went to Milan to attend a soccer game! The stadium holds like 75,000 people! So big! We spent the day walking around the city because J hadn’t been yet, we went shopping and then walked 3 miles to the stadium. Hah we were pretty tired and very hungry! We got some dang good sandwiches outside the stadium from a good truck. All around the stadium was wrapped with these food trucks that all sold the same thing, beer, fries, and sandwiches. But it was all really good! After we ate we made our way inside to find our seats, and as we were looking this drunk guy came up to us speaking in Italian wanting our attention, we told him to back off and he kept following us saying rude things and getting up in our faces. Thankfully more respectful men stopped him from bothering us. We found our seats and with our luck more creepy men sat in front of us. This one guy actually took a picture of us (thinking we wouldn’t notice) and put it on his Instagram story! They kept saying things to us and looking at us like pieces of meat. It was annoying but we did our best to ignore them. The game started and we didn’t have to worry about those men anymore. The actual game was really fun to watch! The fans went crazy, waving these huge flags all around us, screaming, chanting, singing this game song. It was really cool to experience! Unfortunately the team we were rooting for lost 2-1…everyone was pretty mad haha. After the game we went to this “American diner” that had an Elvis Presley theme, it was really cute! And then my host grandma gave us a ride home, thank goodness! She loves soccer and Inter Milan even more! She was pretty disappointed that they lost. Sunday my host family had a bunch of friends and family over for a BBQ. They are LOTS meat, cheese, wine, bread, and more meat…with a little bit of salad ahah. It was all really good, and I enjoyed talking with all of them, they had lots of questions about the U.S. and my life there! And they all wish for me to come back to Italy one day!
