What were you grateful for this week?
Mountains and nature.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?Plans failing.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. One night the little girl I watch started to play with my hair so we ended up playing hairdresser and we brushed each other’s hair and she tried putting braids in mine and it was so cute and fun!
Tell us about your week! This week was an adventure. Almost every plan me and K tried making for the weekend seemed to fail. Things were going wrong and things weren’t working out so we settled on something we weren’t incredibly stoked about but we’re up for anything. Saturday comes and that morning I get to work with my boy on English. We spent a couple hours reviewing grammar and English. I had to come up with sentences that he could rearrange and fun stuff to challenge him. But that was hard because it seemed like it was all way too easy for him! He is pretty dang good at English so I’ll have to come up with harder stuff next time. Me and K ended up going to domodossola which is in northern Italy in the mountains. Even though this wasn’t our original plan we were excited for a weekend in nature. We got there and it was beautiful and surrounded by mountains. We took a walk up to a sacred church that was on a hill. It was drizzling the whole way which made it even better. We got to the top and the view was so beautiful. We were all alone on the grounds and all you could hear was the rain and it was so peaceful. Me and K got chills just being there. So many trees and everything was so green. Even though our plans had been failing we realized that the walk up to that hill made it all worth it and that maybe we were meant to be there this weekend. That night we walked around the town and got some dinner. Everyone we had met so far there spoke almost no English and the restaurant we chose was no different. The menu was only in Italian so I ordered something at random and ended up getting shrimp and squid in my meal. But no complaints because it was still delicious. Sunday morning we decided that we were so close to Switzerland we just had to go. So we got on a train and we’re in Switzerland in about a half hour. All of a sudden everything was different. The language was different, the money was different and the buildings were different. Because it was so close to where we just were I wasn’t expecting much change but it was crazy how different it felt! We hopped on a bus that took us to the highest stop on a mountain and we started walking up. This hike was insane. No words can describe the incredible view of the mountains surrounding us and the surreal Swiss houses that were built on them. Walking through these streets we saw goats and sheep and beautiful flowers. Every turn was an incredible view of what felt like 20 different mountain ranges. Definitely one of the top moments of my life just walking through there and witnessing everything that I did. We got some Swiss chocolate and snacks before heading back to Italy and going home. Our plans failing was the best thing that could have happened! It was the most amazing weekend and one I will never ever forget.
