What were you grateful for this week?
What I was grateful for this week was people being willing to let Natanya and I stay with them in Sicily!
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
The most challenging part of this week was trying to get places from where we were staying in Sicily because it was really far away from everything.
Tell us about it a “wow” moment you had this week.
My wow moment this week was when the mom went out to dinner with her friends and the dad was at work, so I put the kids to bed and watched them that night.
Tell us about your week!
This week was so much fun! I’ve spent a LOT of time hiking lately now that the weather is getting warm and I love it. There is the most breathtaking view of my little village from up in the mountain. The kids and I went to the park quite a few times this week and even though it’s tiny and there are more options for toys at the house they love playing at the park. I love it too because it means I get to be soaking up every bit of warm weather there is!
Early Friday morning I took a train to Rome where I met up with Natanya at the airport. We flew to Sicily and stayed with a family on the military base that I’ve known my whole life. They had a huge pool that we made sure to swim in (even though it wasn’t quite warm enough yet). There was also the cutest little restaurant just up the street from their house and we ate there two nights in a row- the dessert was just too good!
We visited Taormina where we tried the famous Sicilian granita and brioche and I was not disappointed. I could eat granita and brioche every day and not get tired of it. Taormina was absolutely stunning!
Everywhere you looked was picturesque and no matter where you were it felt almost surreal! I’m so glad we were able to spend some time in Sicily, it really was the perfect weekend 🙂
