What were you grateful for this week?My host families love for mountains.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?Staying awake at dinner because they love to talk for a long time????

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. Helped care for the kids on the family ski trip. Played games while parents napped after a long day.

Tell us about your week! This week I did more exploring around Gallarate and met some cool people the work in the local cafes. They love talking to people from America and I love that they are so interested.

This weekend the family planned a trip to Champoluc which is a small village in the northern Italian mountains. They invited me along and I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to ski in what I realized are the most beautiful mountains I’ve ever seen.

The drive took about two hours but was filled with cute small ski villages and castles scattered along high peaks. We skied and watched a downhill skiing tournament which I’ve never seen before. It was a great experience.

That night we went to dinner with some of the families close friends and it was the most delicious food. All local, all fresh, and all very healthy.

The next day I walked around the village and through the local forest trail. I stopped to drink some great coffee and had some pastries before we left back home to Gallarate.

Such an amazing week and weekend. Northern Italy is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I hope one day I can go back to that tiny little ski village!!!!
