What were you grateful for this week?

Sunny days.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? Trying to understand and translate words that don’t have an exact English translation.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. (A “wow” moment is when you went the extra mile to do something nice for your host family.)

[My host mom’s] sister needed a babysitter one day after school and both I and my families babysitter helped tend her kids. They were so cute and I loved playing with them.

Tell us about your week! It has been so amazing being here. The city and people are beautiful and friendly. Being able to walk everywhere is a dream and I wish it was more common in the states. It is starting to be spring here so it’s rainy but on Friday it was sunny and nice so I got to explore Gallarate.

There are so many cafes and restaurants I don’t know if I’ll be able to try them all…I’ll do my best though! The kids are so awesome. We have become quick friends and they are excited to learn English and love to ask questions. Mario Bros is a favorite in this house and [my host family’s son] and I played for quite some time for our free time on Friday evening. [My host family’s daughter] loves hair and enjoys playing with mine all day.

Something that excites me is the family’s love for skiing and we planned to go on Saturday but due to weather we have postponed the trip until next week. It’s going to be fun skiing with the kids and helping them learn something I did all growing up.

Due to the fallen-through plans on Saturday we worked on homework in the morning. Sunday we go to church and that is a cool experience and very different from the Mormon church. I love learning about different religions and experiencing it in another country is amazing. I’m starting to become comfortable here and I’m so excited for all the adventures and learning that is in store! ciao!
