Tell us about your week! This week I got lost for over an hour and a half in Trastevere…in stiletto booties…and had lots of coffee to warm myself up with all the rain. I’ve been a little sick, so trying to up my vitamin C intake and drink my hot water with lemon and honey.I met my host Dad’s niece and spent a couple days with her, seeing her favorite monument, the Pantheon, and enjoying the streets of Trastevere, talking over coffee. I tried her favorite dessert, tiramisu for the first time, and have fallen completely in love.
Did you know thay everytime you see a gold cobblestone in Trastevere or anywhere in Italy, it means a Jewish family once lived there during WW2?? Also, Largo Argentina is known as the Land of the Cats, because wild cats will venture there to stretch out across the old ruins and sun bathe.
We ventured to the top of Victor Emmanuel Monument, took the elevator ride up, and saw the 360 degree view of center Rome. It was a mildly rainy day, and you could just make out the sun peaking out from underneath the stormy clouds. The Pantheon has a big hole right on top of the dome, and we explored this lovely building on a lightly drizzly day and the rain sprinkling down from the heavens was magical.
