What were you grateful for this week?I’m grateful that I didn’t miss any of my flights! I had to sprint a few times, but I made them ALL! Total miracle.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?Having to cancel some plans in Paris and make new ones which cost more than I thought it would.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. Since my family was in London this week, and I was also out of town, I didn’t really get the chance to serve them directly but I did remember them in my prayers! 🙂
Tell us about your week! I became an airport dweller this week. I started out in Switzerland, flew back to Rome, flew to Ireland a few hours later, flew back to Rome and slept outside of the airport, left for Paris early the next morning, and then flew back to Rome again. I just got home about 4 hours ago. Whew!
I know I talked about Switzerland last week, but I’ll say it again. Switzerland is magical! (Partly because I bought $90 worth of Swiss chocolate hehehe;) I also fell in love with Ireland this week. I’ve wanted to go there for years, so finally being there was a dream come true! The Irish people are so happy and kind, and their accents are my absolute favorite.
The day I arrived, I went to a grocery store and didn’t have the right change at the checkout, but the lady just waved me on and said “oh, you’re golden, dear'”, in a thick Irish accent. It made me so happy.
There’s literally crumbling, stone castles and fields of sheep around every bend. Its like something out of a fairytale. I even got to hold a baby lamb!! I picked up my dad and brothers at the Dublin airport on Wednesday morning, we got a rental car, and then drove to Cork, Ireland, stopping at different cities along the way. It was a beautiful drive. The cliffs got all foggy and mystical, and the roads were so narrow, it kind of felt like we were on a different planet.
We stayed at an incredible, old castle in Cork, and ate black pudding for breakfast. Black pudding is made of beef fat and blood, which sounds gross but it’s actually really good! My favorite part of Ireland was running along the Cliffs of Moher. It was surreal to stand on the edge of the cliff, step back, and realize I had been standing on a soft grass overhang that wasn’t even part of the cliff. (Whoops) The views were stunning.
I missed traveling with Kaylee for a while, so meeting up with her for Paris was really fun. We went to the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, literally ate nothing but crépes, macarons, and flan the entire time (no joke), and bought oil paintings and a beautiful old copy of “Robinson Crusoe” from 1911 for €6, (jackpot!). J’aime Paris!
So many amazing things happened this week, I could talk about it for hours. I was totally in my element this week. Constantly on the move, seeing new things every day, overcoming obstacles, eating way too much food, and just BEING. <3
