What were you grateful for this week?

I’m grateful for Skype time with my family! What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?

One of the most challenging parts of this week was that K2 was away!Tell us about a wow moment you had this week.

A “wow” moment for this week was helping to feed and water the cats.

Tell us about your week!

This week was definitely a little more quiet compared to other weeks! I trade off every other weekend being with the family, and this was my weekend at the house. Fabio and [his daughter] spent the weekend with us, and on Saturday, [my host family’s boys] went to a museum to sleep over for Halloween. I think it had something to do with the movie “Night at the Museum”.

Anyhow, while [they] went to drop them off, [his daughter] and I watched “Wreck It Ralph” on Netflix! We watched it in English, but with Italian subtitles.

The next afternoon, Fabio’s brother and sister in-law came over for lunch! It was a “Tuscany feast” and was delicious. For the appetizer, we had cheese, sausage/salami, and bread. For the main course, we had a special pasta (made only with flour and water) and spicy marinara sauce with sweet garlic. After, we had a sausage cooked in marinara sauce. Later we had dessert which consisted of a fruit tart, a jam tart, and delicious oranges. I’m pretty sure the entire meal lasted at least 2 hours. Italians definitely do it differently! But different doesn’t mean bad. I think it’s great how they’re able to enjoy their meals and not have to worry about racing off to their next activity…definitely something I can learn and take home from this culture.
